The IS Group for Innovation and Value Creation (IS I) (Website),
led by Professor Dr. Kathrin Möslein, focuses on the role of
information systems as an enabler for innovation and value creation,
cooperation and leadership. The group focusses on the design, piloting,
and evaluation of systems that support innovation, cooperation, and
leadership as the driving forces of development and growth in
organisations and markets.
Kathrin M. Möslein holds the
Chair of Information Systems I - Innovation & Value Creation at the
University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU). She is also a member of the team of directors of the Center for Leading Innovation and Cooperation (CLIC) at HHL – Leipzig Graduate School of Management (HHL).
She has been researching, teaching and consulting in the field of
strategic innovation and innovation systems since the early 1990s. Her
current research focuses on innovation, cooperation and leadership
systems. Her teaching covers topics like innovation design, interactive
value creation as well as the implementation of innovation strategies
and technologies as well as leadership systems in organizations.
The IS Group for Services, Processes and Intelligence (IS II) (Website),
led by Professor Dr. Freimut Bodendorf, has its main focus on enabling
strategies, solutions, technologies and IT systems for service
industries such as commerce, retail, logistics, healthcare, tourism,
education, and industrial services. Service innovation and service
engineering require close attention to the management of business
processes, information and knowledge. So, research and teaching also
cover IS-related process management and business intelligence. Inter-
and intra-organizational business networking complement the "big
picture" of service and process oriented e-business.
Prof. Dr. Bodendorf is head of the Chair of Information Systems II since 1989 and the head of the Institute of
After finishing his studies in Computer Science
in 1977 he received a doctorate in information systems and worked at
several Universities in Germany and Switzerland.
Prior to his
professorship in Nuremberg, he was chair-holder at the Institute of
Computer Science at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland). He is
member of numerous international research organizations. Main fields of
research are Service and Process Management.
The IS Group for Technology and Project Management (IS III) (Website),
led by Professor Dr. Michael Amberg, deals with business information
technology and IT management. This research group analyzes methods,
models and strategies to successfully develop implement and operate
information technology in business environments. Main research areas are
acceptance management, quality management, IT-Offshoring and the
economics of IT investments. The group has a substantial track record in
designing and evaluating larger software prototypes for its research
Since 2001, Prof.Dr. Michael
Amberg is the head of the Chair of Information Systems III at the
FAU Business school. He was studying informatics at the
Rheinisch-Westfälischen Technischen-Hochschule Aachen (RWTH) and at the
FAU. In 1993, he recieved his doctorate at the University of Bamberg,
afterwards he habilitated to the topic “Prozessorientierte betriebliche
Informationssysteme”. He was professor for information systems at RWTH
Aachen from 1999 until 2001.
